"The Herzog" (lat .: Dux) is the top cuvée of the winery. A combination of
Cabernet and Merlot. The long maturation time in barriques leaves a powerful, yet fine-meshed taste that is reminiscent of ripe forest berries, plums and cherries. 14.5% vol.
The 2017 vintage of this wine took 1st place at the VINUM German Red Wine Award 2020.
BACKGROUND
A special wine that is not produced every year and that occupies a top position in the house's red wine range. It stands for the life's work of the Duke, HRH Carl Herzog von Württemberg, who was born in 1936. 81 years later, the grapes for this wine grew, which he can enjoy after almost three years of maturation.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
For the cuvée, the varietal composition changes when the vintage allows it to be produced. In the 2018 vintage, the Merlot and Cabernet grape varieties were involved. A small part of the grapes was deliberately left on the vine for a long time. These very ripe and partially dried berries were harvested separately. They were supposed to give the cuvée even more depth and ripe tannins - which they did. Most of the expansion took place in new oak barrels from the ducal forests. The result smells of wild berries, cherries and plums; the relatively high alcohol content, which is well buffered on the tongue, also suggests rum pot. The taste of the wine is enormously opaque, powerful, fiery and fine-meshed.
RECOMMENDED FOOD
Goes particularly well with fine game dishes (saddle of venison, venison fillet), beef fillet, braised beef or lamb.

Red wine blend made from
Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. After 18 months of aging in barriques, the wine is finely woven, like a silky robe, with an elegant expression. Notes of cedar wood and pine needles cavort in the aroma. The combination of the three grape varieties Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Cabernet give this cuvée a powerful, complex taste with an invigorating berry scent. The finish is considerably long.
The 2016 DUCISSA won 1st place in the FOCUS wine test 2020.
LOCATION
The Mönchberg in Untertürkheim,
one of the oldest and best top locations in Württemberg, supplies the grapes for this cuvée. The corridor
faces south, is quite steep and benefits from the protective Stuttgart basin. Early budding is normal here. This ensures a long vegetation period and therefore very good grape ripeness.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Cabernet are the partners for this wine, whereby the Lemberger has the level of a large plant and thus represents the "icing on the cake". Half of the wines were
matured in new and half used barriques (second occupancy) and combined six months before filling so that they could find each other harmoniously. The wine has an invigorating smell of
blackberries and wild berries, has a very youthful taste, reveals a good acid structure behind a soft fruit and is supported by well-integrated tannins. Decanting is entirely appropriate.
RECOMMENDED FOOD: The expressive wine needs a substantial meal as a partner, for example roast venison, roast lamb, a beef stroganoff, osso buco or a goulash that is not too spicy.

The dry wine from VDP. GROSSER LAGE is called VDP. GROSSES GEWÄCHS called. This rating distinguishes the highest quality German vineyards. The locations are delimited to the exact parcel. The best wines with expressive character and special aging potential mature here.
LOCATION
The location is one of the best in Württemberg. It supplies the specially selected, optimal grapes for the Riesling large plant. The location with old sandstone terraces protected by dry stone walls is located in a small basin directly below the ruins of the Y-Burg. It has a slope of up to 60% and is owned solely by the Duke of Württemberg.
BACKGROUND STORY
Her name can be traced back to a lady-in-waiting who lived in Stetten at the end of the 17th century, who liked to drink wine but wanted to hide her consumption from the courtly public. So she had the jug that was intended for the "bread water" filled with wine. She dipped the bread into it and was able to enjoy wine and take a sip of the "water" over and over again. It was noticed that the servants did not rush to the well to refill the jar but marched into the cellar. The diversionary manoeuvre was soon over. And the favourite wine of the thirsty lady-in-waiting was named bread water.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The golden yellow colour indicates that the grape material is very ripe.
Citrus and pineapple cavort in the aroma, accompanied by a delicate mineral. The taste of the pleasantly light wine is stimulating, gently vibrating and shows a delicate play of fruit in fine acidity. The yield was greatly reduced.
After a selective hand-picking, the must was fermented long and cool. The young wine then lay longer on the fine lees and refuelled with subtleties.

A harmonious interplay with blackberries, sloes and dark chocolate characterizes this full-bodied and harmonious red wine from the Hohenhaslacher Kirchberg. Its 10-month aging in oak barrels gives this red wine an expressive, complex and spirited taste.
LOCATION
In Hohenhaslacher Kirchberg, where this Zweigelt comes from, viticulture was already practiced over 1200 years ago. Even then it was probably recognized that the forest on the Stromberg heights offers protection from the wind and has temperature-regulating influences. Meaningful red wines, including
Lemberger and Trollinger, grow on the south-facing slopes below the village church. And the Zweigelt, which was first planted here in 2004 by the House of Württemberg and passed its practical test, so that more vines were planted in 2009.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Zweigelt grape variety (formerly known as Rotburger) is a cross from Austria that has gradually gained a foothold in Württemberg over the past 25 years. Her “parents” are the valuable St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch (Lemberger) varieties. The full-bodied wine matured in small oak barrels for ten months. A harmonious interplay of blackberries, sloes and dark chocolate can be seen in the aroma. The taste of the wine is very powerful, complex and spirited.

At a young age, in 1468, the first Duke of Württemberg, Eberhard im Bart (1445 to 1496), made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem to become Holy Sepulcher Knight. He was very interested in the Latin language and put the trip under the motto “Attempto”, which can be interpreted as “I dare” or “I try”. This did not refer to a vow he took on the way to stop cutting his beard. Eberhard was knighted. He brought the palm symbol that was to accompany him all his life from this successful journey. The founder of the University of Tübingen was highly regarded in his homeland and is immortalized in the “Württembergerlied” as a “beloved gentleman”.
The cuvée consists mainly of Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Syrah. It enchants with a scent of wild berries, figs and plums. Strong red wine in an international style. After 12 months of aging in large and small oak barrels, the taste is complex, dense and encased in ripe tannins.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Mainly Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Syrah from different, selected locations of the winery from Maulbronn to Untertürkheim form a taste unit.
The wine matured in large and small oak barrels for a year and was then allowed to stay in the bottles for a longer period of time. It smells of wild berries, herbs and a little pepper. Fine, well-ripened tannins can be felt on the tongue, in combination with a fiery note and a lot of complexity. It has very good storage potential.
